Meet Beverly Boyd: NuvoAir Care Coordinator

Val Anselmi

What do you do at NuvoAir?

I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist and a Care Coordinator at NuvoAir. I work with patients that are diagnosed with chronic lung conditions. At NuvoAir, I am focused on COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) members. I provide training on how to monitor their health from home, such as tracking their lung function with our Air Next spirometer, along with providing education on how to correctly use prescribed medications and how to safely engage in physical activity. It is important to the NuvoAir Clinical Service Team to create a safe space for our members to freely engage with us. We work with their physicians to create a comprehensive care team that supports members to make positive health changes and choices.

Describe a normal day at the NuvoAir office

A normal day at NuvoAir is very busy and ever-evolving. I sign in to work and check all the spirometry tests that the members have completed along with their pulse oximetry input and activity tracker status. I then think about who needs outreach first and how I can encourage them to engage with me as their Care Coordinator. I then either send personalized text messages or directly call them, depending on the level of outreach the member needs. If the member’s tests are satisfactory, I will usually send a message to their phone thanking them for their efforts and to keep up the good work. We want them to know that we notice and appreciate their efforts to manage their health! Because NuvoAir values member experience with the technology, I am often meeting with the Clinical Team to discuss how we can improve processes. We meet with the providers at each of our clinic sites for information sharing and feedback on enrolled members.

Why did you decide to work for NuvoAir?

I decided to work for NuvoAir because I feel that it is vital to keep pace with the current times. NuvoAir is certainly making strides towards doing that, and I wanted to be a part of that movement. We are living at a pivotal point in history wherein digital health has the potential to make a notable impact on patients who can be highly compromised in the acute hospital setting with many viruses that they are easily susceptible to. I feel that NuvoAir is one of the pioneers on that front, and to have the opportunity to assist in making that happen is an understated honor.

What do you enjoy most about working for NuvoAir?

NuvoAir is a company full of diverse people with diverse cultural backgrounds. What I enjoy most about working here is that this company showcases the talents of people of all backgrounds and recognizes that collectively, we are stronger when we recognize other's strengths.

What differentiates NuvoAir from other companies you have worked for?

NuvoAir feels cutting edge and sleek, from the actual hardware to the values that it stands for. I love waking up each day to care for our patients in an innovative way along with a team that has the same drive for patient care and innovation!
